I came across Pilates while looking for a solution to ongoing low back pain in my twenties. I have practiced it ever since and love the way it gives you awareness and knowledge about your own body, its strengths, its weaknesses and its foibles. The strength, flexibility and improved posture it’s given me inspired me to train as a Body Control Pilates® Matwork teacher in 2013 and complete teacher training on the Reformer and Cadillac in 2017.
Everyone’s needs are different, and the body is very much for most of us, a 'work in progress' but Pilates can work for every body, whether you are recovering from illness or injury, whether you want to see performance improvement as a sports athlete or whether you simply want to be able sit or stand more comfortably in your everyday life. Its focus on alignment and positioning forms a basis for all the functional movement skills you need for your other activities.
I strive for people to feel comfortable and confident in class as, with any kind of exercise, ultimately it’s about finding a way of moving that you enjoy, that motivates you and makes you feel good.
Body Control Pilates teacher training is the most comprehensive course of its kind in the world and is widely seen as an international benchmark (for further information see www.bodycontrolpilates.com). I adhere to a code of practice governing teaching standards and professional ethics, hold valid insurance and a CPR certification and am expected to continue training to extend and deepen my knowledge continuously.
"Louise has a relaxed yet professional and accurate teaching style, she gently corrects and is always quick to offer modifications. I especially love how she puts the emphasis on body awareness, thinking about how you feel and move, and not on how you look"
"In short Louise is a very capable and committed Pilates teacher whose overwhelming USP is competence coupled with consideration and care"
"I started Pilates classes with Louise about 2 years ago and have definitely noticed a vast improvement in my body strength, balance and wellbeing. Louise is a brilliant teacher, who’s very patient and welcoming, and there’s no pressure in class so I can work at a pace that suits my body."
"I feel that you tailor the class to the needs of each individual. I am learning so much about how my body works, my posture, and those muscles in my body I under or over use. I always leave the class with a spring in my step ready to face the challenges of the day!"
"After having back pain for years and too scared to try a class on my own. I went along to one of Louise 's classes and never looked back. She makes the classes relaxed and welcomes everyone no matter their ability."
